Will Buying Points Save You Money?

Should you buy points? Buying points when you close your mortgage can reduce its interest rate, which in turn reduces your monthly payment. But each "point" will cost you 1% of your mortgage balance. Find out what kind of insurance against damage or breakage is included in their charges and what additional coverage will cost. The charges are usually broken down into two areas--packing, and loading and unloading. You can sometimes save a considerable amount of money by doing your own packing, but doing so may limit the mover's liability.
